Hosting your own party

Honestly, I had a brilliant night, but the stress that comes with hosting your own party is insane!

I was constantly checking that nothing was getting broken and everyone was okay and there were enough drinks out, etc. etc.

However, everyone seemed to have a great night! I’m glad I hosted it, and I did have a good laugh.

The only damage that’s been done is:
The front of the speaker broke off but that can be fixed, someone smashed a mirror that we are getting rid of anyway, the knob on the light switch came off and someone spilt some coke on the carpet.

I don’t think that’s too bad from 40-or-so teenagers, I’m proud of my friends. I think that’s pretty civilised ahaha!

NCS – Week 2

I got back from week 2 of NCS yesterday and I can’t believe how amazing it was!

I overcame so many fears this week and really challenged myself to move out of my comfort zone! I don’t like talking in front of people or performing etc. But this week I did a solo lip sync, with back up dancers, dressed as Elsa, to Frozen – Let it Go, in front of 30 people! It was so amazing to get up there and face the fear and get over it! Then, the next day I stood up in front of a whole auditorium of people and presented a mock-game-show! I can’t believe I’ve done this!!

We have also been working with a care home and we’re fundraising for them next week! They were all so lovely! 100 year old Barbara was amazing!

I’ve got to know my team so much better and we’re going out for a cheeky nandos tonight! They’re like my family!

NCS – Week One!

As some of you will know from my previous posts, I’m currently doing NCS! I got back from week one yesterday and I can’t even explain how amazing it was!!!

I wish I had more pictures to show you but I honestly didn’t get the chance to take many. The amount of stuff we did was insane! We did absailing, rock climbing, team problem solving, archery, a big hike, meteor shower spotting, camping, canoeing and team challenges! That was all in the space of 5 days!!

Also, the fact that you don’t know anyone in your team when you get there makes the first day pretty awkward but by the end of the second day, you’ll feel like a family!

I hate talking in front of people, I get so nervous and I usually just can’t do it. But by the second evening, I was stood in front of my team, who I’d known for under 48 hours, in my pyjamas, and spoke about being accident prone. It was the best feeling ever!!

My high point of the week was when we all met up here on the camping night:

And when it got completely pitch black there was a meteor shower! The sky was so clear and we all layed down and watch it together and it was just amazing!!

I can’t get over how awesome the past week has been! I love my team so much, the banter is so real and they’re all just lovely people!

I can’t wait for the next two weeks 😀

NCS is tomorrow!

I applied for NCS in March and the 10th August felt like an age away. At that point I still had mock exams, final exams, prom and Tenerife before the 10th August! Now it’s tomorrow?

If you’re unsure what NCS is then you can read my previous post about it here!
Or desire4beauty is currently doing it and she’s made some posts about her experience!

I’m so excited but also so nervous! I get so awkward with new people and I just hope I can make a good first impression. As long as I get through the first day okay it should be all good from there. The amount of youtube videos I’ve watched, of people filming their own NCS experience to get a feel of what I’ll be up to, is insane!!

I’m sure everyone will be lovely and I’ll make some brilliant new friends! Plus I already know someone who’s going at the same time as me so that’s comforting 😀

Wish me luck! I’ll let you all know how week one goes at the weekend!

Waiting for Exam Results

Okay, so it’s 2:30am and I’m lying here, awake. Why? Because I keep playing over possible situations that could happen when I open my exam results in 15 days.

This isn’t the first time either. I’ve been having anxiety dreams of failing all of them and I’ve had sleepless nights. This summer is meant to be the best summer ever because I have so much time off, but all I’ve done is worry.

The worst part is that I’ve surpressed the thought of those exams and pushed them down so far that I can’t really remember them. I don’t know if I put enough work into them because I can’t remember. That just makes me doubt myself more and more!

This wait is slowly mushing my brain and it’s driving me insane! I feel like I never want to know those results, they can stay in that envelope!

If I don’t get the grades that I expect of myself it’s going to be the most heart breaking experience.

Teenage Lunatics

As an awkward person by nature, situations like going to the hairdressers can prove to be a difficult ordeal for me.

You are sat in front of a mirror, forced to either seem vain by looking at yourself, creep the hairdresser out by looking at them or look like the local loon with your eyes closed. That’s only the first struggle!

Then they talk about what you want and if you can’t stand a firm ground, they will try to advise what would be right for you without really listening to what you’ve asked for. So it’s more common than not to come out feeling disappointed with the result.

Next, you get escorted over to the hair washing area where the sink will make your neck hurt, no matter what you do while someone massages your head. You have to either look at the hairdresser standing over you while they wash your hair or avert your eyes away and potentially seem rude.

As the cherry on top, when cutting your hair, the hairdresser will try and attempt awkward small talk such as:

“So what year are you in at school?” Does it matter?

“So what school do you go to?” Why do you want to know?

“Are you doing much today?” Stop judging my life of Netflix and food!

Although, it is a great feeling when you walk out and your hair is all new and you just feel great, so I guess it’s worth it!

After climbing volcanos and cruising the Atlantic Ocean in a Katamaran, I’ve been feeling rather like Bilbo Baggins after he left the Shire!

On Tuesday 7th July, my dad and I got picked up by the Atlantíco coach to visit Mt Teide:

The trip there was okay until a girl decided that she needed the toilet and she needed it NOW! The urgency was real!

The tour guide tried to explain to her that he can’t stop at the side of the road because he might get a fine but she then burst into tears and so we pulled over.

Bless her, she rushed out and we were all instructed go look to our left and not to turn around (in a half jokey way) and we then carried on the journey.

The cable car was really cool and because of the altitude, when we reached the highest we were allowed to go, the air was rather thin.

We took a little Volcano Selfie up there:

Then we travelled back and stopped at a shop where (for some weird reason) my dad bought a wooden wind chime!

On Wednesday 8th July, my mum, dad, godmother and I hopped onto a Katamaran with 8 other people.

At first it was great, we were bombing along the water and the breeze was refreshing. We even saw some whales going past the boat which was awesome!!! I went to the front of the boat and the water was splashing up in our faces, I was having a fantastic time!

But then we stopped for lunch and a swim. I went into the sea for about 2 minutes before climbing back onto the boat for some paella. Bad idea. After finishing half a plate of paella I instantly regretting my careless decision. The boat seemed to be swaying more than it had been before and my tummy was not happy!

We went excruciatingly slow back to the harbour but we got there eventually!

It was a really cool boat trip, regardless of the sea sickness. My adventures have been memorable and I’m glad I can share them with you (even if its only briefely)

The Real Neat Blog Award!

This post has been a long time coming, but I finally found some Wi-Fi in Tenerife (although rather limited) so here goes!

I was nominated for this award by the wonderful The Storyteller, thank you so so much! Go check out her blog if you get the chance to!

So here are the rules:

1) thank the person who nominated you (I’m one step ahead of this one, Oosh)
2) Answer all the questions
3) Nominate other bloggers (between 4-5)

1) Where is your favourite place to read?
Definitely on a sunbed, by a pool, in a hot country! Or snuggled up in my bed with blankets and cushions!

2) What would be the first thing you’d do in a Zombie Apocalypse?

(If you haven’t seen Shaun of the dead and you don’t understand this reference then go and watch it…now…what are waiting for? You’ll love it, I promise)

3) What was the last film you saw, and what did you think of it?

If you mean the last one I saw at the cinema then it was Pitch Perfect 2 for the second time and so I guess that says it all. I absolutely loved it and it had me actually laughing out loud!!

4) What is your favourite quote?

“It takes ten times as long to put yourself back together as it does to fall apart” ~ Finnick Odair, The Hunger Games.

5) If you could try a new sport, what would it be and why?

I would try yoga because it seems quite calming and it would be cool to be flexible and strong!

And now for my Questions to you:

1) Where is your “Happy Place”?
2) Do you like any Youtubers, if so, who?
3) Do you have any big life ambitions?
4) What’s the nicest thing that anyone has ever said to you?
5) Do you prefer hot or cold weather?

I nominate…

I Prefer Deep Blues and Sea Foam Greens

Yesterday I had my school leavers prom! It was one of the best nights of my life and I never want to forget it!

I had my hair done (which I’ve never done before):

I did my own makeup:

And my “date” as such, was my best friend:

and he got me a corsage:

After having a lot of pictures taken, we left in our cars for the venue! Only to be greeted upon arrival by a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory themed Prom, with our very own umpalumpa!

Everyone looked so amazing and the night was filled with dancing and photo taking. Plus I ate some candy floss and pizza at some point and I stood in some candy floss that I had to wash off (ew).

There was even a photo booth where we could take crazy pictures with props and things:

It was such a surreal night and it was so lovely to spend our last night all together with my weirdo friends all dressed up!
