Public Transport

As a British citizen, we have all come across some strange public transport situations. I definitely have within the past month on my bus rides to and from college.

There is one smell that I cannot stand, no matter what. Liquorice. I used to have an allotment with my Dad and whenever fennel started growing, which smells like liquorice, I would refuse to touch it or go near it, in fear of being sick. So when a woman who stank of liquorice sat down next to me at the beginning of my 20 minute bus journey, I was not impressed. I don’t know whether it was just her perfume or that she is addicted to it, but I was internally gagging. I tried breathing through my mouth but nothing could get rid of this smell, that was a horrific journey.

A few days ago, I was waiting at the bus stop and a woman said something to me and I laughed but I didn’t think much of it. When I got on the bus, however, she came and sat next to me, which was okay until she started talking to me. She was asking me about where I go to college and if I party a lot. This woman had crazy white hair and rotting teeth which she clearly doesn’t brush. I must admit, I was feeling very anxious for the entirety of the journey.

When it came to our stop, I rushed off the bus, happy to finally be free. Of course she followed me to where I meet my friends. She asked for the time and then started hysterically laughing about how she always has trouble with the time…BUT THEN the weirdest part…she asked me if I would like some breakfast!! I was really starting to panic then and I politely declined, luckily at that moment my friend came and she left.

Not My Day

This morning was erm, interesting!

I got myself up and dressed and my hair washed and my makeup done (not in that order XD) and I left the house. It was all downhill from there.

My bus was running late, great! So, I waited and waited for it and eventually it arrived. I got on and got comfy when….OH CRAP I LEFT MY NOTEBOOK AT HOME, AND MY MATHS HOMEWORK THAT IS DUE FIRST LESSON IS IN THERE!

The bus had already pulled away when the realisation sunk in, I was screwed. So I had to re-do my maths homework throughout my bus journey, that’s always fun.

Then when I got off my bus where I usually meet my friends, they’d already left me cause I was late so that was brilliant!

I walked off on my own to start the 30 minute walk that I had left to get to college…I got half way there when…

I managed to get to college with 1 minute to spare before my Maths class started.

My morning was very eventful and unlucky, I’m glad that’s over!

The Monday that has just gone marked my first day of college! It’s all very exciting and overwhelming with all the brand new experiences, people, opportunities, it’s crazy.

My first lesson was Computer Science, and it was weird enough that I didn’t have first period and so I didn’t have to be in college until 10am, but then walking in and having the teacher introduce themselves by their first name was even more weird.

As it’s Computer Science, you may have guessed that I’m the only girl in the class. This doesn’t bother me in the slightest. Majority of my classes are male dominated, as would be expected in Computer Science, Maths and Physics, Latin is the only one that isn’t!

I’ve found that even after two days, I feel like I’ve been sucked into a whole new universe. All the new people around and the fact that we all wear our own clothes, it’s weird not having everyone looking the same. So when you’re walking through the corridor you can judge exactly what people’s personalities are like and what subjects they’re taking from their clothes. The art students all wear really quirky clothes and you can almost instinctively get to know a person from their appearance. This does make me worry what people think of me but then again, I don’t really care.

If anyone is starting college soon, or has just started, or is starting next year, or whatever, and you’re worried about anything or want to find out some stuff then I’m always here to answer any of your questions (if I know the answer XD)!

Waiting for Exam Results

Okay, so it’s 2:30am and I’m lying here, awake. Why? Because I keep playing over possible situations that could happen when I open my exam results in 15 days.

This isn’t the first time either. I’ve been having anxiety dreams of failing all of them and I’ve had sleepless nights. This summer is meant to be the best summer ever because I have so much time off, but all I’ve done is worry.

The worst part is that I’ve surpressed the thought of those exams and pushed them down so far that I can’t really remember them. I don’t know if I put enough work into them because I can’t remember. That just makes me doubt myself more and more!

This wait is slowly mushing my brain and it’s driving me insane! I feel like I never want to know those results, they can stay in that envelope!

If I don’t get the grades that I expect of myself it’s going to be the most heart breaking experience.

After climbing volcanos and cruising the Atlantic Ocean in a Katamaran, I’ve been feeling rather like Bilbo Baggins after he left the Shire!

On Tuesday 7th July, my dad and I got picked up by the Atlantíco coach to visit Mt Teide:

The trip there was okay until a girl decided that she needed the toilet and she needed it NOW! The urgency was real!

The tour guide tried to explain to her that he can’t stop at the side of the road because he might get a fine but she then burst into tears and so we pulled over.

Bless her, she rushed out and we were all instructed go look to our left and not to turn around (in a half jokey way) and we then carried on the journey.

The cable car was really cool and because of the altitude, when we reached the highest we were allowed to go, the air was rather thin.

We took a little Volcano Selfie up there:

Then we travelled back and stopped at a shop where (for some weird reason) my dad bought a wooden wind chime!

On Wednesday 8th July, my mum, dad, godmother and I hopped onto a Katamaran with 8 other people.

At first it was great, we were bombing along the water and the breeze was refreshing. We even saw some whales going past the boat which was awesome!!! I went to the front of the boat and the water was splashing up in our faces, I was having a fantastic time!

But then we stopped for lunch and a swim. I went into the sea for about 2 minutes before climbing back onto the boat for some paella. Bad idea. After finishing half a plate of paella I instantly regretting my careless decision. The boat seemed to be swaying more than it had been before and my tummy was not happy!

We went excruciatingly slow back to the harbour but we got there eventually!

It was a really cool boat trip, regardless of the sea sickness. My adventures have been memorable and I’m glad I can share them with you (even if its only briefely)

I Prefer Deep Blues and Sea Foam Greens

Time Flies

So apparently I grew up?

From my first day of Primary School, to my last day of Secondary School.

Yesterday I left high school…how am I old enough to leave high school? I still feel like the same, little, 11 year old girl who was terrified of moving to “big school”. Five years down the line and I’m here, leaving the amazing friends that I made as we all go off to different colleges. Everything is changing.

These people are the most wonderful people you could ever imagine and the thought of not seeing them everyday makes me really sad. I’ve spent a whole five years of my life with them and suddenly I’ve got to meet new people and make new first impressions. I won’t lie to you, I’m scared. The concept of college scares me half to death!

My best friends all finished their exams before me and so last friday we all celebrated the end of the exams together. Knowing that we’re going to different college breaks my heart. I love them more than anything! They also know how weird I am, and I dont want to scare people off at college with my weirdness that they’re not used to!

I guess I’m just nervous for the future and the responsibility that lies ahead. But, I have a whole three months off for summer and I’m going to make the most of it! Wish me luck!

The English Exam Explosion

Yesterday I took my first GCSE exam and it was English Language, with the exam board: Cambridge IGCSE. Note that the “I” stands for “international”. This means that everyone around the globe took the exact same exam at the exact same time.

Last night, one of the most incredible explosion of tweets happened. Someone at some point made a hashtag for the English Exam and people started making jokes about the extracts that we had to analyse. It then began to grow, more and more people joined in. We had hundreds of year 11 students around the world all coming together on one Twitter hashtag to all joke about the same exam.

Next thing I know, it has spread to tumblr. People were making tumblr accounts dedicated to the exam. I was laughing so much that my mum had to tell me to leave the room in order to calm down. It made my life.

The cherry on top of the whole situation was the fact that someone made a Wikipedia page for one of the characters from our exam. I was completely done. I couldn’t breathe!

Our generation is the best! We took one exam and it went viral. It truly was a legendary experience!
